ABOUT US
“At Signature Pedigrees, we don’t follow the crowd…
We follow the bloodlines.”
From sourcing racehorses to developing mating plans, every decision is grounded in pedigree, performance and long-term potential. This isn’t about chasing hype or buying into trends. It’s about applying a disciplined, informed approach to bloodstock — identifying the right opportunities, structuring them properly and giving clients genuine access to the sport through insight, strategy and experience.
EARLY DAYS
(Click to listen)
That curiosity soon turned into action, and with it came the early lessons that shape how I approach bloodstock today. My first success came with Brown and Gold, who won twice. Not long after, I purchased Mongelica — a filly that looked right at the time, but carried a pedigree flaw through close inbreeding to Danehill. It was a mistake, but an important one. It reinforced how critical pedigree balance is and how early decisions can shape everything that follows.
From an early age, horse racing wasn’t just an interest — it was something I was drawn to instinctively. Like many, that passion eventually led to my first experience in ownership. At the time, I didn’t understand pedigrees, bloodlines, or the deeper mechanics of the industry — I was simply excited to be involved.
FIRST PURCHASES
STUDYING THE BLOODLINES
That experience sparked a deeper curiosity. I took a share in Manhatten Times with Leon MacDonald in South Australia — a horse who proved himself at Group 1 level and showed genuine class on the track. What intrigued me wasn’t just his performance, but why he succeeded where others hadn’t. I began to study his pedigree in detail, then widened that lens to include elite Group 1 performers more broadly. Over time, clear patterns began to emerge — recurring strengths in family lines, balance in mating decisions, and traits that consistently separated top-level horses from the rest. It was the beginning of a far more deliberate and analytical approach to bloodstock.
A DIFFERENT APPROACH
Through that work, one key insight became impossible to ignore: Elite colts and fillies are bred differently. The very best horses consistently showed a level of precision, intent, and balance in their pedigrees that separated them from the broader population. Yet across the industry, many horses continue to be assessed and selected under the same lens, without recognising these distinctions. I found that applying this understanding made a significant difference — not just in identifying quality, but in uncovering value others overlooked. That realisation led to the creation of Signature Pedigrees: to help breeders, owners, trainers, and investors access better opportunities, make more informed decisions, and find high-quality racehorses without needing to spend $1 million.
